Xerostomia is defined as dry mouth resulting from reduced or absent saliva flow. Xerostomia is not a disease, but it may be a symptom of various medical conditions, a side effect of a radiation to the head and neck, or a side effect of a wide variety of medications. It may or may not be associated with decreased salivary gland function.1,2 Xerostomia is a common complaint found often among older adults, affecting approximately 20 percent of the elderly.1,3-5 However, xerotomia does not appear to be related to age itself as much as to the potential for elderly to be taking medications that cause xerostomia as a side effect.

Use as desired to freshen breath. You may remove it for eating and replace it after eating. Do not chew. Do not consume fructose (in fruit and added to many sweet drinks and foods) until one hour later. You may adhere the flat, dark side to teeth or gums to minimize movement. Use 4-8 domes daily for 1-20 days before each dental procedure if you have family history of or active cardiac disease and your dentist did not prescribe antibiotics. Suggested Use:
Place the OraMoist disc on a clean, dry finger with the convex or round pink side up. Place the pink side on side of the roof of the mouth (palette), halfway back and hold in place of 10 seconds. The disc will adhere to the palette for up to 4 hours and then dissolve. Use up to three discs a day. Denture wearers: If upper dentures or other appliances cover the roof of the mouth, attach the disc to the inside of the cheek. Do not attach to dentures or appliances.
